How the Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast came to be
History
Announced in October 2016, the attraction replaced the former Grand Circuit Raceway. Construction began in 2017, with plans originally slated for spring 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the opening was delayed until September 2020.
Story & technology
Designed by Walt Disney Imagineering, this attraction is one of their most ambitious to date, featuring large-scale teacup vehicles, synchronized musical staging, 35 animatronic figures, and a rotating Pepper’s Ghost illusion for the transformation scene. The design immerses you within the music and visuals of the film.
Layout of your experience
Preshow: A tale begins
Guests first gather in a majestic chamber where a stained-glass window tells the story of the cursed prince. As the tale unfolds, life-size animatronics of Belle and the Beast appear, ending with the Beast’s sorrowful roar before the castle doors swing open to reveal the boarding area.
Ride: Story in motion
After boarding the enchanted teacups, the journey begins in the dining room with the spectacular Be Our Guest sequence. Dishes and cutlery come alive in sync with the music. From there, scenes change smoothly as guests glide into the castle’s snowy courtyard and beyond.
Ride: Turning point
As Something There plays, Belle and the Beast begin to connect. The Beast is seen tenderly holding birds, gradually smiling, a moment that shows his softer side. This builds toward the emotional climax as the mob arrives, Belle declares her love, and the Beast transforms into the Prince.
Music: Movement with melody
Every scene is precisely timed to the score. The teacup vehicles dance, spin, and pause as part of the storytelling, moving in harmony with Alan Menken’s reimagined soundtrack. From start to finish, the music is seamless, guiding guests through one fluid, emotionally rich experience.
Boarding restriction
Guests who cannot maintain a stable sitting position alone in a moving vehicle may not ride.
