Anna was a very helpful guide in showing the best spots to take photos with my friend. She also helped take the photos herself! She's so sweet, organized, and made our experience fun, informative, and enjoyable.

Linda the tour guide was amazing! She was informative, engaging and funny. We were very lucky to have a clear cloud day and see the mountain with no clouds blocking it but I don't know if the sites would have been as pretty had we not had a clear day, so just a warning don't expect to be able to see the mt clearly everyday. The tour itself was great though

A wonderful evening experience in Kyoto. The pace was relaxed and the atmosphere was peaceful compared to the daytime crowds. We enjoyed learning about geisha culture in the historic streets and then ending the walk by the canal surrounded by beautiful night scenery. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable, and the flexibility to choose our own food and drinks made it even better. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

The cherry blossom season walk was magical. Starting near Yasaka Shrine and walking toward Maruyama Park at sunset felt like being part of a local spring festival. There were food stalls, lanterns, and people enjoying hanami under the blooming trees. Sitting beneath the cherry blossoms with street food and drinks was such a memorable experience.

Best time to visit Tokyo

• Jul–Aug become warmer and more humid.
• Overall, mid‐spring is best for relaxed sightseeing.

Events

• Early April hosts grand sakura festivals in City B with cultural performances and curated picnics.
• Late March features intimate community hanami gatherings.
• Seasonal art exhibits and night illuminations complement daylight tours.
• Book ahead in April to catch peak local celebrations.
• Enjoy authentic local traditions.

Crowds

• Peak visitor numbers occur in late March and early April.
• Weekday tours see fewer crowds compared to weekends.
• Outside peak sakura weeks (May–Dec), attractions are noticeably calmer.
• Plan early arrivals during busy periods to secure preferred viewing spots.
• Advance bookings help avoid long queues during high-demand days.

Before you book

Kawazu cherry blossoms along a river in Kawazu Town during the festival.

• Cherry blossom timing varies by city and year, so peak bloom dates are never guaranteed.

• Kawazu typically blooms earlier than central Tokyo and Kyoto, making it better for early-season travel.

• River cruises operate along seasonal routes, so blossom density depends on current bloom conditions.

• Full-day Tokyo and Kawazu tours involve multiple outdoor stops and moderate walking throughout the day.
• The Kyoto Sagano train and boat tour combines seated travel with light exploration time in Arashiyama.
• The Kyoto night hanami experience is entirely on foot.
• The Meguro River cruise is the least physically demanding option, with most of the experience spent seated.

Helpful tips for your Japan cherry blossom tour

  • Book early for peak dates: Sunset river cruises and weekend departures during peak bloom tend to sell out first, so securing your spot in advance is wise if your travel dates are fixed.
  • Arrive before departure time: Plan to reach your station exit, pier, or meeting point 15–30 minutes early, as tours depart at fixed times and late arrivals may not be accommodated.
  • Dress for changing spring weather: Spring temperatures can shift quickly, and it often feels cooler near rivers or during evening walks, so light layers are a smart choice.
  • Wear proper walking shoes: Full-day tours and night hanami walks involve extended time on foot, including park paths, coastal trails, and stone-paved streets.
  • Travel light: Large luggage is inconvenient on buses and boats, so bring only a small daypack with essentials for the day.
  • Carry some cash: Festival stalls, park entries, and smaller local vendors may prefer cash, so keeping some yen on hand can save time.
  • Leave buffer time after full-day tours: Return times may vary slightly due to traffic or seasonal crowd conditions, so avoid booking tight dinner reservations immediately afterward.
  • Secure cameras and phones: River cruises and boat rides can have light movement, so use wrist straps and avoid bulky tripods in crowded blossom areas.
